Steve, 125gr is optimal for self defense. 110gr is the minimal recommended for short barrel revolvers. 110gr through 158gr recommended.

I dont see anything even limiting it to 125 grains and up I would call Taurus and ask them Customer Care Call Center Call: 800 327 3776 Monday thru Friday* – 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM (EST)
