sorry the M&P 22 is not on the CA DOJ approved list here are the legal 22lr S&W guns https://www.oag.ca.gov/firearms/certified-handguns/search?make=151003

As the m&p 22 is not legal because it fell off the roster you can still purchase it used from another person legally as for any off roster hand gun and it does not count towards  your 1 per 30 days purchase.
