I'm buying a custom slide for a glock 19 gen 3, the 19 I currently own is a gen 4 but the slide I want is a gen 3 - is the only difference the guide rod and if so can I simply replace my gen 4 guide rod with a gen 3 guide rod?

no "The dimensions of the Gen 4 frame is larger than the Gen 3 frame. The Gen 3 slide travels deeper into the Gen 4 frame than it is meant to, tearing the frame up as it does so. Rich, No the Gen 3 slide does not function well on the Gen 4 frame. Would be a waste of money and very frustrating for you.
