All the rugers I own are rock solid, the sp101 has been around since 1989 and by all accounts it is built like a tank As far as weight that depends on the barrel length 2.25" is 26 oz, 3" 27 oz, 4.2" 29.5 oz Hickock 45 has a great full review of it I will post a link to the hickock45 review but sometimes links dont come across well so if not Google hickock45 ruger sp101 review It's not letting me post it with the link to the hickock45 review, but you should google it alot of good info
