The thumb safety is on the rear upper side of the frame just below the slide.

Teressa, no Ma'am. This model has a Manual Thumb Safety on one side (rear upper left) only. There are Ambidextrous Models that have the Thumb Safety on both rear sides for either right or left hand use. This is a single side right hand Manual Safety model.
