Matthew, These are all steel guns. Some early models and a special Egyptian contract had alloy frames. These surplus firearms are all steel. The initial production batch featured a lightweight alloy frame, which proved to be unable to withstand the shock of the relatively high-powered 9×19mm Parabellum round in the long run. This was replaced by the 'second series' model with a steel frame that proved to be totally adequate in endurance.

Matthew,in this batch 99.9% will be All Steel pistols. I have no doubt that a very minuscule number of Alloy Frame models would be among these batches. These are bulk packed and stored shipments of surplus handguns and this likely is what contributed to reviewer discrepancy. Cheers and stay safe!

Matthew, I would not trust the guys review that said he had an alloy frame. Unless it was part of the Egyptian contract there were no alloy frame Beretta M1951s being made in 1976. They were all steel guns at that point of production.

I picked mine up last saturday. alloy frame!
