thinking about trying out a 22lr for training and target. trying to shoot ambidex if possible because i'm left eye dom and right handed. so is this a good choice.

22 is a good choice for learning to shoot off hand.  I used a Colt Diamondback.  I do not know how the ejection of the empties is with this pistol.  If it throws them to the right it will be fine.  If it throws them more straight back you will be ducking and throw off your accuracy,
