it is a great gun for a first shotgun with the 28 inch you will be fine for hunting and also for the clay target games (skeet trap and sporting) they are a great gun at their price point. ammo will depend on what you want to do 2 3/4 # 8 shot is great for the clay games # 4 buck, 00 Buck or slugs are great for deer and home defense I recommend getting your ammo locally due to the cost of shipping ammo
Kareem, The GiRSAN MC312 is a 12 Gauge Inertia Driven Semi Automatic shotgun. This simply means that it will fire 2-3/4", 3", and 3.5" Shot Shells from light target loads through heavy hunting /self defense loads very reliably. As far as ammunition recommendation, I would buy a single box of different brand shells corresponding to what your target will be - skeet, clay, bird, buck or self defense and pattern your shotgun. Then stock up on the ammunition that performs best for you in your particular shotgun. What patterns great in mine may not in yours and vice versa. Cheers and stay safe!
Kareem, The Girsan MC312 is a fine semi-auto shotgun. Buy whatever 12 ga ammo you can. Box at a time and see what works. Buy it while you can. Shotguns of all makes and styles will be harder and harder to find and buy. Just get it and move forward with your shooting sports learning.
