I can't seem to find any info anywhere as to whether the receiver is steel or aluminum. I'm assuming the barrel is steel. Thanks

I'd almost guarantee it is steel, especially in .308.

This rifle has a Carbon Steel Barrel with Matte Black Finish and the receiver will be 4140—Ordnance steel according to Savages manufacturing process.
