I just bought a Mossberg patriot 270 win. Took it out today and shot 20 DRT WIN 117 Gr and 20 Remington core-Lock130 gr. I am told to experiment with various ammo. Frankly I am an occasional target shooter and I WILL NOT HUNT and there are too many ammo manufactures it would take a lifetime to choose the ammo for me. My question has anyone gone through this process and has a recommendation on what I should shoot.

I don't own anymore rifles in .270. But if I will not be using the rifle for hunting, I normally look for the cheapest priced ammunition. That's just if I'm "plinking" steel targets and what not, if I am trying to be a precision shooter, I will go with match ammunition. Nosler rounds, as as James mentioned, are great. Personally, I prefer boat tail shaped bullets. That's just my two cents. It was my pleasure to somewhat assist you.
