Daryl, on Heckler & Koch it means Volks Pistole or People's Pistol.
Be specific please. What model number? Give the item description also.
Daryl, If your talking about the firearms names on certain H & K pistols James is correct. The VP on the Model number is something I could not answer. None of the H & K model numbers have VP in them just the pistols names.
The VP designation in the name refers to Volkspistole (German), which translates to "people's pistol", HK is a german manufacturer and have been building firearms and replacement parts for the military and police since 1949 The Vp9 is the 1st pistol I ever bought and I love it.
