Donald, it will work just fine. Buck Shot/Slugs are no problem. It also has other barrel options as well. Just for consideration : https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php?products_id=415012241
Hi, While Winchester super X pump is decent shotgun, the 26 inches barrel might be too long for navigating in tight home defense situations. I would stick with something 20 inches or shorter for this application. Additionally, I recommend you checking out (1)un(2)roker for Mossberg 500 or Remington 870, there are a few floating around. Replace (1) with G and (2) with B.
Donald, I would not be too picky. With shotguns sold out every place. If I wanted one I would buy whatever model I could get my hands on. You can always get a shorter barrel for the Super X or whatever shotgun you get.
I suggest a trip to a local pawn shop they normally have racks full of 870s and mossbergs

Rem 870 express tactical. hands down best option for home defense. Once you get that, purchase the blackhawk buttstock. reduced recoil and pistol grip added
It's good to take your home defense shotgun to the range to get an idea of the devastation you can bring with one and what rounds you might prefer in your home and on your property. Of equal or even more importance is what your shotgun looks like. Everybody and their monkey's uncle is grabbing up the "tacti-coolest" versions. Optics, lights and vertical stack magazines are replacing the classic grace of handsome wood furniture and classic styling. The Winchester 1300 Defender with the 'corn cob' pump grip is still the slickest action in the class but is no longer in production.Fortunately the market for used shotguns usually has plenty of classic models available.
