Greg, You can but the setup will lack accuracy. Your accuracy will suffer because the barrel will be smaller the the barrel opening in the slide and the barrel fit will be loose. An OEM 9mm G17 barrel will also fit inside the G22 slide, but it will be loose. So community members saying no issue there will be accuracy issue. The diameter of the G17 barrel is smaller the the diameter of a 40 S&W G22 barrel. I would suggest a conversion barrel.
