Anton, no Sir it is not normal for a new pistol to be that rough. It may be that 1 in a thousand that slips through quality control. I would put 50 rounds through it, clean and lube and repeat for 200 rounds total. Sharp edges, burrs etc should be smoothed out by then and then check for function/reliability. If it works then fine and if not much better, call S&W for service at 1-800-331-0852 Mon-Fri 8:00AM-5:00PM Eastern Time.
