You should get approximately 4,5 to 5 thousand rounds until accuracy degrades to the point of needing a barrel replacement. 6.5 Creedmoor ammunition is currently roughly the cost of premium 308 ammunition. Hi, 1.) You can expect slightly lower barrel life on the 6mm (2000-3000rd) compare to the 6.5mm (3000-4000rd). This mainly due to the high-velocity nature of the round. 3.) 6mm is becoming more widely available but 6.5mm Creemore is still significantly more available (especailly in retail store) and cheaper. 4.) 2 inches difference is insignificant...unless you are precision/match shooter, I would go with 24. Scott, First Creedmoor and Creedmore are the same round designation. Some people just spell Creedmoor wrong. The throat erosion issue with this round has a lot of variables. How fast you shoot. How often you shoot, competing or hunting, Ammo used. Quality of barrel. Both rounds are expensive. The 6mm Creedmoor was hatched from the 6.5 Creedmoor, and that round is the ballistic twin and nearly identical physical twin to the 260 Remington. A precision competition target shooter using these rounds will change barrels every 1000 to 2000 rounds or more often. For me, I expect to probably get 10,000 rounds through my Savage 6.5 Creedmoor barrel. The decrease in accuracy from the throat erosion is no big deal for me. I will have my same barrel the rest of my life. 24" barrel model will be lighter. 26" barrel model will give you more bullet velocity. Any good quality bipod will work. You can mount a rail or a sling swivel mount on the M-Lok handgaurd to mount a bipod. You decide.
