Experts - please explain is there danger in store-bought 308 in a rifle stamped as 7.62 mm? I've been told in the past that 7.62 ammo in 308 rifle is safe. Is the reverse true for a rifle such as this for stock ammo (not specialized handloads)?

Dereck. no worries Sir. You will have no issues since this barrel is actually stamped .308 and not 7.62x51mm.  .308 Winchester accepts 7.62x51mm NATO no problem.

no 308 ammo is not safe in a 7.62 nato (only) gun the 308 is a hotter round and creates a higher chamber pressure but the mossberg is actually stamped for both 308 and 7.62
