What ever you can find right now is good for the range. Please use hollow points for home defense. Over penetration with ball ammo can kill loved ones.
Keith, the Kimber Micro 9 is chambered in 9mm. Federal 230gr FMJ is .45ACP. For the Micro 9 I recommend practicing with the very ammunition you will be staking your life on. Lower powered target ammunition can have a drastically different point of impact than higher powered defense ammunition and accuracy will be of utmost concern. I recommend Speer Gold Dot : https://www.ammunitiontogo.com/index.php/cName/9mm-hollow-point
I recommend 147 gr. target ammo like Federal FMJs, then like James G. pointed out using Speer Gold Dot in the same bullet weight. Federal ammo for some reason with my chronograph had more FPS than the Speer Gold Dot and this was out of five different pistols. But both rounds kept similar data as far as the Federal being faster than the Speer. To me this would make good training ammo. I do agree with James though once you do get use to the pistol firing the target ammo, you definitely need to shoot a few rounds of your self defense ammo to see how you and the gun acts.
