If it is drilled and tapped, or has the weaver style ridges on top of the receiver it can. Otherwise it will take gunsmithing and that would, in my opinion, ruin a 60 year old rifle.

Vito, the 60 year old Stevens 22LR should be able to be drilled and tapped easily by a local gun smith. Just figure out the type of mount you want to get the correct drill and tap screw spacing.
