David, this rifle is chambered in 5.56 with a 16 inch barrel and effective out to 500 yards. Ballistics drop off substantially after this and requires more dope calculations to compensate for more radical bullet drop. Can you shoot and hit targets farther, yes but, requires more ballistic calculations. Cheers and stay safe!
It is a fancied up AR15 in 556. Good optics and range will depend on the shooter(as with most firearms).
Typical effective range of this rifle is 500-600 yards. Though with some high skill level , correct match grade ammo, and a high quality long range optic ive seen some hit up to 1200 yards. BCM makes high quality weapons. If your looking for a great rifle and can afford it id pull the trigger on this one.
EASILY HIT 500-600 yard target with appropriate scope. Farther than that will require extra work and match ammo. I hope this helps!
