Joel, yes You can. Buck Shot or Slugs would work quite well. Buckshot for up to 50 yards and Slugs for up to 100 or slightly farther yardage. Any distance over and a Rifle would be best.
I RECOMMEND rifle for hunting hogs and deer. You can use a shotgun with slug ammo for hogs and deer but you are SIGNIFICANTLY better off with a rifle. Look for a lightweight and accurate .308 (or 6.5 Creedmore) bolt action rifle (or semi-auto). CHECK here ( https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/79536/ruger+american+308+win+black+synthetic+6903 ) OR ( https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/93389/ruger+american+predator+65creedmoor+green%2fblued ) OR ( https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/104471/savage+axis+xp+308+win+22%22+matte+black+4%2b1 ). For semi auto (more expensive and harder to find right now) look for Savage MSR10 or PSA PA-10 or Stag 10 or Smith & Wesson M&P10. They are all good for hunting. I hope this helps!
