YES! This is BEST PISTOL for women or anyone who want easy to rack the compact pistol. My father has arthritis and can't rack other pistols slide, but he racks this gun easily! There is also a .380 version of this pistol that has a bit lower recoil too. I hope this helps!

Judith, this is a good choice for you. My wife has one and racks it no problem. They also make a .380 EZ you may want to consider if you'd like a little less recoil.
Absolutely, the slide is easy to pull back and the recoil is soaked up nicely.
Judith, This is a fine choice for a self defense handgun for anybody. Read the manual. Learn the gun. And drill, practice, and get to the range.
