Lubomir, you will want CCI 22LR ammunition and these magazines : https://www.joeboboutfitters.com/Smith-and-Wesson-M-P15-22-25rd-Magazine-p/sw-19922000.htm
22 rimfire ammo is hard to find right now. any high velocity ammunition should function properly in the rifle. Regarding using this firearm as a self defense gun; rimfire ammunition is not as reliable as centerfire ammunition and is therefore not recomended as defensive ammo. If you choose to use it for defense, I'd recomend training how to quickly clear a failure-to-fire (FTF), stove pipe (when a round gets caught in the gun), double-feeds, and the other common problems with 22 rimfire. as for it working as a self defense firearm? its not my first choice, but if it's what you have, train hard.
The 22lr is not the most optimal caliber for self deffense, but training, and good shot placement will definitely get the job done. Lots of in stock ammo here https://ammoseek.com/ammo/22lr And magazines here https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/83445 Id also recommend a weapons mounted light for any home deffense weapon as positive target ID is one of the .ost important aspects of home deffense.
Lubomir. To shoot this rifle at the range everything but the ammunition will be shipped with the rifle. That includes the magazine. Buy some 22 lr ammunition and you will be good to go. If you can find some CCI mini mag 22 lr ammunition that should work well. There are several good 22 lr rounds on the market. You will find out what works best in your rifle. I would not recommend this rim fire rifle for a home defense weapon .A criminal high on drugs would not be phased by being shot with a 22 lr round.
