Looking for advice on best weapon to take in my plane traveling through Canada to Alaska. Stopping and fishing along the way. May need to be a rifle due to Canadian restrictions on handguns. Maybe something that breaks down for transport? Would like something that can defend against bears but also be used practically in a survival/hunting situation.

Andrew, likely an AR platform rifle in 450 Bushmaster, 6.5 grendal or 300 Blackout. The AR platform is just a 5 second 2 pin take down for transport. Of the above mentioned, 6.5 Grendal would be my choice for large critter defense and serves double duty in a survival/hunting situation.

I hear the 17HMR is a pretty hard hitting round,  hit a big ole Alaskan grizzly with one of those and he's likely to say "ouch" right before he eats ya

forget the AR style rifles as they are not allowed in Canada. for a rifle I would look at a  lever action in 45-70 or a good bolt action in 300 Winchester mar or 7mm mag  https://www.ezbordercrossing.com/the-inspection-experience/transporting-firearms/bringing-a-firearm-into-canada/
