Get a purse made for carry with a dedicated pocket for the gun. They also make a trigger guard protector that snaps over the trigger guard for some guns. You don't want a gun floating around in your purse even with a safety. Something gets in the trigger guard and you can reach for keys and hear boom.

All have a safety feature. Even if it has no traditional thumb safety, they will always have another form of safety. Whether its a firing pin block with a safety trigger, a very heavy trigger pull, or grip safety, they will have a safety feature. Many smaller guns are made without a flip on off thumb safety to prevent snags on retrieval. You can learn more about each model as you go. But safety is the manufacturers main goal on every firearm they produce.

Even the original Ruger LCP with seemingly no obviou saftey, still utilizes a very long and very heavy first shot trigger pull. It would be near impossible to accidentally pull that trigger on the first shot. It requires a long hard deliberate pull to make that first shot go off. Then it weakens and functions normally for follow up shots. Even still it comes with a tiny cloth purse holster to cover the trigger guard area when not in use. But the best safety you will ever have is the one between your ears.

All the more reason to get some professional training and practice afterwards to become familiar with the handgun of your choice. Just talking about safety and thinking about safety will get you or some innocent killed. What you carry or the type of safety does not matter. Becoming proficient in the handling and storage of the firearm is only way to stay safe.
