All firearms require a background check at an FFL dealer, unless you live somewhere that requires a background check for ammo.

Dennis, your FFL will submit your NICS (background) check after you fill out form 4473. You can purchase a gun from Bud's before any background check takes place, but it will be sent to your FFL of choice.
