Mike, I have a similar model with the vented barrel. The vented barrel does more at reducing muzzle flip with stout loads than it does at reducing recoil which I estimate at 10% or so less than my non vented barrel revolvers of the same barrel length. Performance Center Triggers are definitely smoother as S&W does a nice job at reducing trigger component friction. Cheers and stay safe!
