Find a local gun shop , every gun shop will set there own ffl transfer fee usually between 15 and 40 dollars. Choose the gun you want on buds gun shop and go through the purchase process. It will come up saying make sure your not prohibited from owning then select the ffl / gun dealer from there list, if you don't see it expand the search further then 25 miles. It's good to establish a relationship with local gun shop and make sure they're still doing transfers. Buds will then send the firearm to selected ffl with a packing list with your contact info for you. You will then go to ffl with proper ID and fill out the form and they will run the background check on you, can take up to a week . If you pass then you go pick up your new firearm after paying your transfer fee.
Kerry, your selected Preferred FFL automatically receive the firearm and they contact you directly. You go in and do the paperwork, pay the transfer fee and take your firearm home. Provided you have no issues, the process is rather straight forward. Cheers and stay safe!
It's really going to vary from state to state, some states like California, NY, NJ, CT, etc.... Have additional steps. Most free states however all you need to do is select your firearm, choose your ffl (I always call my ffl prior to selecting them and confirm they're willing and able to facilitate the transfer) if you choose a preferred ffl then you complete the check out process, wait for the notification that your guns been delivered, then go in and fill out your back ground check, and take your firearm home. If it's not a preferred ffl you need them to fax or email a copy of their ffl to buds. add your preferred local FFL to our list by simply having them fax us a copy of their FFL to (800) 804-5569. Or email FFL@BudsGunShop.com
Kerry, you choose your FFL at checkout. It will ask you to choose one. It's best to contact the FFL prior to purchase to make sure they are doing transfers at this time, and just to give them a heads up that you have a gun coming. Some FFL's will notify when the gun arrives, some will not. You will know when it is delivered as Bud's send you the tracking info. You can then call your FFL to make arrangements for the transfer.
