45Colt (Long Colt) is very capable for deer hunting. Hornady Leverevolution was developed to use in lever action rifles that use pistol cartridges. It will take deer. No 100 yard plus shots.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND Hornady Leverevolution, Underwood, and BUFFALO BORE'S DEER GRENADE 45 COLT. All of these manufacturers are equally good and will drop most deer below 100yards. I hope this helps
