There was built in hammer or trigger lock added to SW revolvers voluntarily during the Clint*0n administration it is built directly into the revolver and disables the weapon from working until you unlock it with the key. This is not a feature you want so no internal lock is a good thing.

Hi, if you still need an answer, this is an optional feature and not a concern, simply a matter of your preference ... Internal lock is for firearm storage when not on your person, you can use the included key to disable the firearm's action preventing use by unauthorized persons ... That feature is typically not needed if you've got another method to secure the firearm like a safe, lockbox, or cable-lock. I have firearms both with and without this feature, but rarely use it since I store them in a safe when they're not on my person.
