Yes, the Ruger 556 will accept milspec parts and accessories.

It does have a mil-spec buffer.

Lyndell, yes the Ruger 5.56 is a mil-spec designed rifle. The mil-spec buffer tube, Ruger has equipped the AR-556 with a six-position adjustable stock. The trigger is a single stage mil-spec trigger as well.

Lyndell, Yes the model 8500 Ruger 556 is milspec and can take all milspec AR parts you want to replace.
