The 6.5 Creedmoor is based on a modified.308 Winchester case, the 6.5 PRC is based on a modified RSAUM (Remington Short-Action Ultra Mag) case.

Steel, the 6.5 Creedmoor is based on the .308 Winchester which uses a necked down .308 case. The 6.5PRC is based off a modified Remington Short-Action Ultra Mag case. For the 6.5 Creedmoor you would be able to use 308 magazines as both are interchangeable magazine wise.

SPST, The 6.5 CR round is a target/hunting round in a necked down .308 case. The 6.5 PRC. was designed for use in an AR platform for military and sporting purposes.
