No sir, this is classified as a pistol, it has a barrel shorter then 16" and a pistol brace on it, so along as the state you live in doesn't prohibit it then you are good to go, the only time you'd have to register it as a short barreled rifle is if you wanted to remove the brace and put on a rifle stock.

Roddreckus, no Sir. This firearm is classified as a standard Handgun/Pistol due to the Brace instead of a Shoulder Stock. Nothing special needed. Cheers and stay safe!
