Hi William, we've got a similar CVA Magnum rifle like this one, the one you are looking at is a .50-cal Magnum so while you can use both pellets & granular for your Standard Loads (50 to 120 grains) you'll want to avoid granular for your Magnum loads (120 to 150 grains) since that much granular usually only partially burns in the barrel ... Our favorites are: Granular = Pyrodex RS & Select ... Pellets = Triple-Seven 50/30 & 50/60.
