James, sorry you are having an issue. Since this happened early, other than the batteries, the unit itself may be internally compromised so I would contact Walther Customer Service for a resolution at 479-242-8500 EXT 507 or customerservice@waltherarms.com
Maybe its just a bad battery, have you tried a different battery?
