Caleb, yes Sir it will work just fine. I use Hornady Critical duty +p 45acp without issue. Cheer and stay safe!

Yes +p is fine, but will require me frequent service of the pistol page 11 of the manual confirms this here https://www.smith-wesson.com/sites/default/files/owners-manuals/M&P_Shield_All_Cals_06-01-16.pdf
