Norman, only your FFL can answer if they will do this. Just call them and ask. They likely will not since you are not the owner yet, the buyer yes, and they have to log the firearm into their inventory before they can transfer it to you. Then form 4473 completion makes you the registered owner and not before. Cheers and stay safe!

I actually tried that once my FFL told me the background check has to be done at time of pickup, he also said that it wasn't his policy that it is mandated by ATF.

Norman, I doubt it, but you would have to ask your FFL.
