YES, this model has NO thumb safety and just have trigger safety. There is a M&P40C model with thumb safety. I hope this helps!

Joan, always trust the manufacturer UPC code. This specific pistol has a magazine safety. No manual thumb safety or internal lock. Cheers and stay safe!
