Carl, unfortunately no Sir. The Shield uses a Single Stack Magazine and the XD is a Double Stack. Too wide to fit the Shield.

The XD/XD Mod 2 is indeed a single stack just like your shield, but I've never heard of Springfield magazines working in a SW, or vice versa. They have similar sizes, as can be seen here ( for comparison 9mm is shown for both but comparison should be the same for 40sw) https://www.handgunhero.com/compare/smith-wesson-m-p-9-shield-vs-springfield-xd-mod-2-sub-compact-3-3 ------------ I have full sized XDM, and a full Size MP M2.0, and the magazines will not fit between the 2 at all, the Springfield magazibe is wider then the MP mag channel, and the MP mag is short and to skinny and wouldn't likely lock in even if it was longer. For best reliability fit and function, id stick with magazines designed for your shield.
