The MOS version is Modular Optics Systems, so you can mount a reddit pistol optic there are aftermarket companies that can mill your slide to accept a reddot, but it is much more cost effective to just buy the optics ready version. As a newer shooter I'd say you would benefit greatly from the ability to run a reddot. Reddots give increased range, faster target acquisition, faster transitions, ot is way easier for new shooters to pick up, single point of aim, pint of impact instead of having to line up 3 dots. Also worth noting the 43 and the 43X have different capacities and overall dimensions, the 43x is bigger which makes it more easy to control while shooting, it also has a higher standard capacity 10rds instead of 6 plus with shield arms magazine extensions you can get up to 15rds in a 43x Side by side comparison here https://www.handgunhero.com/compare/glock-g43-vs-glock-g43x
Terry, unless you are planning on doing competitive shooting, no. I would get the non MOS model and spend the additional $300 or so for practice and self defense ammunition. Cheers and stay safe!
Can you still install an upgraded site on a G43X like for example a tritium site?
If its just for range and self defense, a simple glock will do fine. Plus the extra 300 dollars you save could be used to buy ammo or a 2nd gun. Its like getting 2 guns for the price of 1!
