Try Mother's metal polish which you find at most auto parts stores. Flitz is somewhat abrasive so use it sparingly. Mother's will clean and polish in one step. Also, try to use a pencil eraser on it before going out to get the cleaning agent. Eraser actual work sometimes. I hope this helps!
