If it is a new gun (not used) you don't need to clean it before using it. HOWEVER, I highly recommend that you OIL it out of the box because some guns are not oil out of the factory. I hope this helps!

You should always clean and lubricate a gun you just acquired. You make sure there are no obstructions any where, and you gain some familiarity with a new firearm.
