I would prefer to inspect a rifle prior to purchase. Seeing that there has been concern over quality issues with some of the Marlin's, would it be safe to assume that Bud's inventory is recent inventory? Is there any way to determine the date of manufacture prior to purchase?

Yes, these are the latest models Gary. Buds policy allows you to refuse transfer if there is anything on a new firearm you don't like for a suitable replacement or refund.
