Joseph, you should not due to higher the pressure of the 5.56 ammunition. For warranty and safety reasons, I would confirm Thompson Center Customer Service at 1 (866) 730-1614 Mon - Fri: 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Joseph, if the barrel is stamped .223 you should not fire 5.56 through it. ---- 5.56 generates higher pressures the .223.
