Looks like the G36 is on the CA approved handgun roster https://oag.ca.gov/firearms/certified-handguns/search Its certification expires 01-01-2022 though so I'd not wait to long to get one

Jesse, yes Sir, the Gen 3 G36 is on the CA DOJ Approved Roster and is good to go in CA. Cheers and stay safe!
