Kevin, The only difference between the P226 and P229 is the length of the barrel/slide and the mag capacity. The 226 will have a slightly longer sight radius, approximately 1/2". The 226 with a longer barrel, will have a slight velocity edge with the same ammunition. The frames differ only in length and the width of the grip (the P229 is a tad wider) but not much.
