Forgive my ignorance on the matter.. I know that you for sure can't not shoot 5.56 (or shouldn't unless barrel says) through a 223 barrel. But can this particular model shoot 223 as well as 5.56 ? Thanks -kind regards- Jen

Yes you are correct you can't shoot .556 through a .223, but you can shoot .223 through a .556. And the SW MP15 line of rifles/pistols *including this model) are all stamped. 556.

You can shoot either .556 or .223 with this pistol, and its no worry on the question we all had learn at some point.
