YES, this can use both 5.56 and .223 interchangeably. Ruger list 5.56 on their website. I hope this helps!
No sir this only rated for .223. And is listed as such on Rugers website. https://www.ruger.com/products/americanRiflePredator/specSheets/26944.html --------------- But honestly for a hunting rifle 223 is better as far as ammo selection goes.
