YES, I would say it require a medium amount of force to rack it, similar to Glock and many other strike-fire pistols. If you are concern with racking, I highly recommend M&P Shield EZ. It's going to be similar to an M&P or a Glock, not the heaviest recoil spring but not the lightest either.
