The Kimber Eclipse Custom II is regarded at the most reliable out of the box 1911 in 10mm that won't empty your bank account. The Dan Wesson Silverback is great but almost twice as much.

That's an impossible question! what are you going to use it for, budget, ect.

There are several 10mm 1911's that I own. My order of preference in experienced reliability is Rock Island Armory (hard to bat price point wise), my Colt delta Elite is next, then my Springfield Armory (Older 6" Slide). the Rock 5" and 6' have been more reliable out of the box than my Kimber and Dan Wesson Razorback which both need to be sent back to get to run right. I have long been a member of the Glock Talk 10 Ring forum and have in excess of 20 10mm hand guns and have shot them all. High dollar price means nothing if a gun won't run out of the box.
