some will and some will not the one I tried worked great fine with remington game loads but would not work with fedral light loads

Fred, yes Sir I have first hand. No issue in my Pumps but a couple of my Semi-Auto's seem to have a sweet spot of 1250fps or higher with game loads. Not much else getting around the physics of weight x velocity to cycle reliably. Cheers and stay safe! I tried this trick and t worked (Lock the cocking lever back and store the shotgun this way for a couple of days and then retry the light loads) (takes some of the spring tension out) ;)

by the way the charge weight can be as important as the velocity and individual guns have likes and dislikes in ammo

YES, most semi-auto shotgun will have an issue with cycling low brass or weaker loads. It usually gets better after you broke in the shotgun (a few hundred rounds) but it is expected. Your best bet is to get a gas-operated semi-auto with an adjustable gas system. Those tend to fare a little better with weaker loads. I hope this helps!
